A New Look for Your Boat

Marine Vinyl Wrapping

Change the color of your hull sides, add distinctive accents or create custom graphics for your boat. We help plan the appearance, material and coverage around your vessel and its existing finish.

Designed around your vessel

Make the Appearance Your Own

From Raynham, we help Massachusetts and Rhode Island boat owners plan color changes, graphics and accents on selected above-waterline surfaces. Your existing finish, the shape of the boat and the way you use it guide the design.

Choose your visual direction

What Would You Like to Change?

Start with the change you want to see, from a new hull-side color to a custom graphic or finishing detail. Choose a main direction below and add other ideas in the notes.

Full Hull-Side Color Change

Give your boat a new color or printed look across suitable hull-side areas above the waterline. We plan coverage on both sides around the boat’s shape and existing finish.

Partial Hull Wrap

Change part of the look with a color block, band, fade or graphic. The uncovered finish stays visible as part of the design.

Stripes & Accents

Add a stripe or finishing detail to suitable cabin, roof-band or trim areas. We plan the fit around curves, narrow edges and places that get frequent contact.

Custom Printed Graphics

Make the boat your own with patterns, illustrations, gradients or custom graphics. We confirm the artwork, protective finish and placement before printing.

Names, Identification & Markings

Add your boat’s name, home port, registration numbers or individual graphics. You confirm any required wording, placement and visibility before production.

Personal Watercraft & Small Craft

Refresh suitable body panels or above-waterline areas on a smaller boat or personal watercraft. Curves, texture, fuel contact, frequent rubbing and time underwater can limit coverage.

Color, finish and artwork

Start with the Look You Have in Mind

Choose Color & Finish

Tell us about a color, finish or detail you like. We compare physical swatches and materials suitable for your boat, including any specialty finish you are considering. A screen cannot guarantee an exact paint or gelcoat color match.

See Your Design Before We Print

We plan the design for both sides of your boat, including seams and required markings. You confirm permission to use the artwork and approve the final design in writing before printing and installation. Material availability, design work and revisions are agreed for your project.

A clear plan before installation

Getting Your Boat Ready for a Wrap

A clean, sound surface helps the film sit smoothly and adhere as intended. Existing graphics and adhesive may need removal, and wax, coatings or contamination need to be addressed. Chips, texture and damage can remain visible through vinyl; any repairs or correction are agreed before installation.

A Good Finish Comes First

The paint or gelcoat needs to be sound and fully hardened before wrapping. We check repainted or repaired areas and any corrosion. Vinyl will not repair blisters, water-related damage, peeling paint or structural problems, and rough, flexible or unstable surfaces may be unsuitable.

Above the Actual Waterline

We plan the wrap above the waterline, taking into account how the boat sits when loaded and unloaded. Occasional splash or washing is different from staying underwater. Bottom paint, underwater equipment and areas treated to prevent marine growth are outside the normal wrap plan.

Where the Wrap Starts and Stops

We’ll review where the wrap starts and stops, how it fits around your boat’s shape, and which areas stay uncovered before you approve the installation. Hidden areas and any removal or refitting of hardware are agreed separately. Drains, vents, sensors, required markings and safety equipment must remain usable and accessible.

Everyday Use & Future Repairs

Rubbing from fenders, ropes, covers, supports, lifts, trailers and docks can wear the wrap, as can fuel and unsuitable cleaners. We also account for a sailboat leaning in the water, ribbed pontoon surfaces, rails and tight curves on small craft. The boat type alone does not tell us whether a surface can be wrapped.

A small test helps us assess the finish but cannot guarantee how the wrap will stick or come off across the whole boat. Vinyl changes appearance; it does not provide the same physical protection as marine PPF.

From idea to installation

From Your Idea to the Finished Wrap

  1. Discuss the Look

Tell us about your boat, the type of wrap you want and any color, name or artwork ideas. Photos and measurements can follow privately.

  2. Inspect & Approve

We review the finish, waterline and how the wrap will fit. You approve the samples, design, seams and coverage in writing before production.

  3. Prepare & Install

Protect the vessel, complete agreed graphic removal and cleaning, fit the selected film around the boat’s curves, align seams and graphics, and finish and seal edges as required by the material system.

  4. Review & Care

Inspect coverage, alignment, seams, edges, fittings and markings. Receive the installed system’s care and return-to-service instructions, and retain the approved design and product records.

Normal installation requires the boat out of the water, dry, stable, properly supported and in an approved protected setting. Hauling and yard arrangements are separate.

A vessel-specific proposal

What Does a Boat Wrap Cost?

The price depends on the area being wrapped, your boat’s shape, the material and design, existing graphics, preparation and access. Your written proposal confirms the work, any areas left uncovered, scheduling and separate yard or hauling arrangements.

Installation timing depends on inspection, design approval, production and suitable working conditions. Normal wrap installation is not promised on a floating boat at the dock.

Care, repairs and written terms

Keep the Finish Looking Its Best

Follow the care and return-to-use instructions for your installed wrap. We confirm any final heat treatment, edge sealing and drying needed for the chosen materials. There is no single waiting period or lifespan for every marine wrap.

Cleaning, wear and a concern

Use the approved cleaning method, avoid abrasive or harsh products and inspect edges after contact. Do not heat, puncture, trim or reseal a concern yourself. Dark or specialty finishes, horizontal exposure and high-contact areas may age differently. Ask about lifting, staining or damage before attempting a repair.

Repair, removal and warranty

A repair may require a larger section, and new graphics may not exactly match the surrounding weathered material. Removal can reveal outlines of old graphics, adhesive residue or weakened paint and gelcoat. Damage-free removal cannot be guaranteed.

The manufacturer’s terms for the vinyl, printed graphics and protective layer are separate from our agreed workmanship terms. Vinyl from other manufacturers is not automatically covered by XPEL Marine Product Warranty.

Marine Vinyl Wrapping Faq

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a marine vinyl wrap?

A marine vinyl wrap changes a boat’s appearance with colored film or printed graphics. It is fitted to suitable surfaces, normally above the waterline.

Can you wrap below the waterline?

Our normal wrap service is above the waterline. Bottom paint, underwater equipment, areas treated to prevent marine growth and surfaces that stay submerged need different products and specialist work, unless a specific written system is approved by the manufacturer.

Can a wrap replace paint or gelcoat repair?

No. Vinyl cannot repair chips, cracks, blisters, a chalky finish, corrosion, peeling paint, separating layers, gelcoat damage or structural problems. The finish may need repair before it can be wrapped.

Can you wrap over gelcoat?

We can consider smooth, sound gelcoat after checking its condition. Wax, polish, ceramic coating, repairs, absorbent areas, contamination, damage, water exposure and edge access can affect how the wrap sticks and how safely it can be removed.

Can you wrap a painted aluminum boat?

Possibly, after a separate inspection. We check how firmly the paint is attached, any corrosion or chalking, seams, fasteners, contact between different metals, drainage and repairs, along with the manufacturer’s guidance.

Can you wrap pontoons, inflatable tubes, or textured plastic?

Some areas may be unsuitable because of ribs, texture, flexible material, movement, fuel exposure, rubbing or limited access to edges. We confirm whether the exact surface and product are suitable before offering coverage.

Does marine vinyl protect the boat?

Vinyl can take some minor cosmetic wear, but its main purpose is appearance. It is not a substitute for marine PPF, bottom paint, corrosion treatment or structural protection.

Will the wrap hide scratches and repairs?

Not reliably. Scratches, texture, repairs, a chalky finish, old adhesive and color differences can still show through the wrap or become more noticeable. We review the finish before installation.

Will the wrap have seams?

It may. The boat’s size and shape, raised hull details, fittings, film width and printed design can require joins, overlaps or separate pieces. We also plan access and future repairs when deciding where those joins go.

Can the wrap include a boat name and registration graphics?

Yes, when they are part of the agreed design. You remain responsible for confirming the required wording, size, contrast, placement and any approval from the relevant authority before production.

Can you match an exact paint or gelcoat color?

We cannot guarantee an exact match. Physical swatches and printed samples help you choose, but the existing surface, lighting, finish, printing, protective layer, material batch and aging can affect the result.

How long does a marine wrap last?

There is no single lifespan for every marine wrap. Material, color, finish, preparation, sun, heat, salt, water, fuel, rubbing, storage, cleaning, edges, seams and how you use the boat all affect how it ages.

Can the wrap be removed without damaging the finish?

It can often be removed, but we cannot guarantee damage-free removal. Weak paint, repairs, a chalky or failing finish, corrosion, age, heat, chemicals and the original surface condition can affect the result.

Can damaged wrap film be repaired?

Sometimes, but the repair may need a larger section, fresh edge sealing, access around hardware or reprinting of nearby graphics. New material may not exactly match the older wrap around it.

Can the boat stay in the water during installation?

No. Normal installation requires the boat out of the water, dry, stable, properly supported and accessible in an approved protected setting. Hauling and yard arrangements are separate.

How much does a marine wrap cost?

Each quote is based on your boat and the work involved. Coverage, size, finish condition, design, materials, printing, protective layers, seams, edges, hardware, required markings, old-graphic removal, access, working conditions and scheduling all contribute to the price.
