Cabinet & Surface Wraps

A new look for your cabinets & interior surfaces.

Explore professional architectural finishes for compatible cabinet doors, drawer fronts, islands, built-ins and interior panels. Update colors, textures and patterns while keeping suitable existing components in homes throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Make the space work for you

Keep what works. Change what you see.

Your kitchen cabinets may still be in good condition, but the color, grain or finish no longer fits the look you want. The layout works. The storage works. Yet the appearance can make an otherwise beautiful room feel dated.

When the existing surfaces are suitable, professionally installed architectural finish film offers another way to update the look. Selected cabinet doors, drawer fronts, islands and built-ins can receive a new color, grain or texture without automatically removing and replacing the underlying components.

Retain Suitable Components

Consider a surface update when sound doors, panels and cabinetry are worth keeping.

Make the Details Feel Intentional

Plan grain direction, hardware, edges and adjacent finishes together.

What Is a Cabinet or Surface Wrap?

Architectural finish film is a decorative material professionally fitted over approved, properly prepared interior surfaces. It becomes the visible finish of the existing component, offering selected colors, woodgrain looks, stone-inspired patterns and textures.

Think of it as a new decorative layer rather than new cabinetry. The underlying construction remains, and details such as edges, seams, profiles and hardware need to be planned before installation.

Architectural film is not ordinary contact paper or automatically interchangeable with automotive wrap vinyl. The exact material must be approved for the surface and use.

A thoughtful surface update

Cabinets, built-ins and the details around them.

Smooth painted kitchen cabinet doors and oak drawer fronts with aligned brushed metal handles.

Think beyond one door color. A coordinated finish can connect cabinet doors, drawer fronts, islands and built-ins while preserving suitable construction.

  • Cabinet doors, drawers, frames and selected end panels.
  • Island faces, built-ins and compatible furniture.
  • Selected interior doors and wall panels.

Every component is reviewed for construction, finish, profile, clearances and exposure. Architectural film does not repair swelling, failing paint or a loose factory-applied cabinet covering.

Choose it in the room

The physical sample makes the decision.

Contemporary home kitchen with warm wood cabinetry, a broad light countertop island and garden-facing windows.

A finish can feel very different under morning daylight and evening task lighting. Compare samples beside your countertops, backsplash, flooring, appliances and hardware before approving the material.

  • Review color, gloss and texture from normal viewing positions.
  • Plan grain direction across doors, drawer stacks and adjacent panels.
  • Agree on seams, edges and acceptable pattern variation.

Printed woodgrain, stone and metallic finishes can create a convincing design direction, but they do not become the natural materials they resemble. Availability and installation requirements depend on the selected manufacturer's product.

Review My Request

Choose the right kind of update

Wrap, paint, reface or replace?

Architectural wrap

Consider a different color, pattern or texture over a compatible, stable existing component.

Painting or refinishing

Consider a suitable coating system when the existing construction and desired finish support that approach.

Refacing or replacement

Consider new components when damage, profiles, layout or construction make a surface update unsuitable.

We can explain where a wrap fits and when another qualified trade is the better starting point.

Details that shape the result

Plan the edges, hardware and grain together.

Preparation

Review existing paint, lacquer, laminate or factory-applied vinyl covering, along with curing, contamination and any needed repair.

Installation details

Agree on door removal, storage, reassembly, clearances, primers, seams and included returns.

Finish approval

Review physical samples, grain direction and transitions across doors, drawers and adjoining panels.

Heat, moisture and special components

Wrap is not waterproofing and does not stop leaks or swelling. Sinks, dishwashers, ovens and cooktops need separate heat, steam, grease and clearance review. Some areas should remain uncovered. Film is not heat-proof or scratch-proof.

Horizontal counters need exact product approval for their wear, food, heat and water exposure. Appliance controls, vents, sensors, labels, seals and service access cannot simply be covered. Rated doors, egress and other regulated assemblies need their own approval.

Thermofoil is a factory-applied vinyl covering, usually heat-formed over an MDF cabinet door. If it is peeling or damaged, it needs attention before a new finish is considered.

Complex profiles, compound curves, tight recesses, open grain and fragile finishes can make a wrap unsuitable. Removing an old cabinet covering can expose damaged fiberboard or adhesive and create a separate repair requirement. Repairs and substrate preparation are quoted separately. Product-specific installation conditions must be confirmed before work begins.

Appearance, repair and removal

Seams, relief cuts, edges and pattern transitions may remain visible. Film can follow dents, brush marks, chips and texture instead of hiding them. New hardware, drilling, repairs and hinge adjustment are not automatically included.

Later repairs can require a larger panel replacement and may not match the original lot, wear, grain or gloss. Removal can involve adhesive cleanup, sanding, refinishing or replacement and may damage a fragile surface. Architectural wrapping is not a guaranteed damage-free reversible change.

A few useful answers

Questions before you choose.

Can any kitchen cabinet be wrapped?

No. Construction, finish, profile, clearances, heat, moisture and existing condition determine suitability. Loose thermofoil (a factory-applied vinyl covering), swelling, failing paint or damaged edges must be addressed first. Architectural film is a finish, not a structural repair.

Is architectural film the same as automotive vinyl or contact paper?

No. It is selected as a professional interior finishing system with its own materials, preparation, adhesive or primer, installation and care requirements. Vehicle film is not an automatic substitute.

Will the wrap hide damage?

Texture, brush marks, chips, dents, repairs, swelling and uneven edges can remain visible. Preparation and repair requirements are assessed separately; some components are better painted, refaced or replaced.

Will the finish match the picture on my screen?

A screen is only a starting point. Review physical samples in the actual room under daylight and artificial light, beside countertops, flooring, backsplashes and hardware. Patterns do not become real wood, stone, metal or fabric.

Are all cabinet edges and interiors included?

Only the faces, returns and components listed in the proposal are included. Tight clearances, profiles, hinges, heat or moisture may limit coverage. Seams, relief cuts and pattern transitions can be visible.

Can you wrap counters or appliance panels?

Only when the exact product is approved for that surface and use. Horizontal counters have different wear, food, heat and water demands from vertical doors. Appliance vents, controls, sensors, labels, seals and service access must remain appropriate.

Is it waterproof, heat-proof or scratch-proof?

No. Film does not repair leaks or waterproof cabinets. Standing water, steam, burners, hot cookware, grit, sharp objects and impacts can damage it. Use the exact care directions and keep unsuitable heat zones uncovered.

Are hardware changes and door removal included?

The proposal specifies disassembly, storage, reinstallation and adjustments where required. New hardware, drilling, hole repairs, hinge replacement and extensive repairs are not automatically included.

Can a panel be repaired or the film removed later?

Some panels can be rewrapped, but repairs and replacement material may look different because of lots, patterns, wear or availability. Removal can need adhesive cleanup or refinishing and may damage fragile finishes. It is not guaranteed to be reversible without damage.

How much does cabinet wrapping cost, and how long does it take?

Panel count, dimensions, finish choice, condition, preparation, profiles, edges, hardware and access all affect the proposal and schedule. Exact care and warranty terms come with the approved product and project agreement; there is no universal kitchen price or duration.
