Manufacturer Coverage and Exclusions

What the Manufacturer Warranty Covers

XPEL’s warranty covers qualifying defects in the film itself. ULTIMATE PLUS, STEALTH and ULTIMATE FUSION provide ten-year coverage from the original installation date for:

  • Yellowing
  • Cracking
  • Blistering
  • Delamination

ULTIMATE FUSION’s additional four-year provision covers qualifying oxidation, loss of gloss, UV damage and fading.

The film must be professionally installed and maintained as XPEL directs. XPEL reviews the concern against the installed product’s warranty terms before approving a claim.

What the Manufacturer Warranty Does Not Cover

The film is a protective, sacrificial layer. Manufacturer defect coverage does not cover:

  • Rock strikes, road-debris impacts, scrapes, tears, punctures and abrasions.
  • Collision, vandalism, fire, hail, flooding and other outside damage.
  • Damage from improper washing, harsh chemicals, solvents, misuse or neglect.
  • Water spots, mineral deposits, stains and scratches.
  • Damage to underlying paint, panels or trim, including existing paint defects, failing clear coat or vehicle-manufacturer defects.
  • Damage caused by improper installation, unauthorized removal, alteration or repair.

The official documents also list product-specific conditions, including non-XPEL ceramic coatings, non-automotive uses and, for ULTIMATE PLUS and STEALTH, areas not rewrapped after paint or body repairs. Read the complete exclusions for your film.

Understanding the Concern Before Choosing a Remedy

Appearance alone does not establish the cause or coverage. We inspect the film, review its history and explain the practical next step.

Different concerns can need different kinds of support
Type of concernWhat we review and what may help
Possible film defectYellowing, cracking or separation may warrant manufacturer review. We document the condition and installation details for XPEL to assess before any approved claim work.
Installation-related concernAn edge or alignment concern needs inspection to establish the cause. Installation attention, correction or replacement of an affected piece may be appropriate; a lifted edge does not automatically establish coverage.
Impact or scrapeWe assess the damaged film and affected area. Repair or panel replacement may be available as paid service, with No-Fault assistance considered separately for eligible customers.
Surface conditionMineral deposits or a change in water behavior may need cleaning or maintenance first. Persistent staining needs assessment; it does not automatically mean the film must be replaced.

Start by showing us the concern. We’ll inspect the film, review the available installation details, and explain the next steps for manufacturer review.

ULTIMATE FUSION Annual Inspections

To maintain ULTIMATE FUSION’s limited manufacturer warranty, plan for the required annual inspections:

  • Have the film inspected annually by an XPEL-certified FUSION installer throughout the warranty period.
  • Schedule within 30 days before or after the installation anniversary or previous inspection/service date.
  • Keep proof of every inspection; XPEL requires these records for a warranty-related issue.
  • The owner is responsible for any inspection charges, including washing or decontamination required for the visit.

XPEL states that missing the required inspection window will void its limited warranty. This annual inspection is separate from Kickin’ Customs’ complimentary three-week workmanship follow-up.

What Happens if XPEL Approves a Claim?

If XPEL determines that the film has a qualifying manufacturing defect, XPEL may approve removal and replacement of the affected film area.

XPEL determines manufacturer eligibility, the approved remedy, the affected area and the authorized installer and repair process. Manufacturer claim work requires XPEL’s approval before proceeding.

For approved film-defect claims, the manufacturer warranty covers applicable parts and labor to replace the specific defective film with material available at the time. It does not promise replacement of unaffected panels or coverage for damage beneath the film.

Approved manufacturer replacement remains within the original warranty period. It does not restart or extend the original warranty term.

Kickin’ Customs Workmanship Coverage

Kickin’ Customs provides a one-year workmanship guarantee covering installation-related defects. It applies to our original installations and is separate from XPEL’s warranty for defects in the film.

The complimentary three-week follow-up is required for workmanship coverage. We check settling, edges and alignment, then assess whether a concern needs installation attention, manufacturer review, cleaning or repair. An edge lifting on its own does not establish the cause or automatically qualify it for coverage.

Workmanship coverage depends on following the care instructions. It does not cover damage from impacts, neglect or third-party interference.

Keep scheduled warranty-repair appointments or contact us in advance to reschedule. Our shop policy states that a no-show or cancellation without proper notice voids the shop workmanship warranty. See our shop policies and workmanship and appointment terms.

Problems With Fresh Film: Contact Us Immediately

Call 617-431-6858 if an edge lifts during washing, the film becomes loose or flaps, or dirt enters an open edge where adhesive is exposed. Do not wait for the three-week follow-up.

Leave the affected edge alone. Do not press it down, peel it, trim it or clean underneath it.

Remove bugs, bird droppings and sap sitting on the film promptly and gently, without scrubbing or disturbing the curing adhesive. Routine surface contamination does not require an immediate call. Contact us if it will not release gently. Read the complete PPF care guide.

Film Installed Elsewhere

We can assess film installed elsewhere, but we do not take over another installer’s workmanship warranty. Inspection or repair may involve a charge. We’ll confirm any charges before proceeding. You do not need to determine which category applies before asking us for help.

Kickin’ Customs No-Fault Replacement Benefit

Qualifying original PPF installations of $495 or more include one-time assistance of up to $250 toward eligible replacement for the original customer. Insurance claims are excluded. Eligibility is separate from manufacturer warranty and workmanship coverage.

This assistance may reduce your replacement cost; it does not necessarily pay for the entire repair. It is a separate shop benefit, not manufacturer defect coverage or a promise that outside damage qualifies under workmanship coverage.

Contact us before affected film or damaged parts are removed. We confirm the original installation, affected area and eligibility before service.

Three Steps to the Right Support

  1. Tell us how we can help

Start with your vehicle and request. Film type and installation date can remain unknown.

    • Vehicle year, make and model
    • Approximate installation date, if known
    • Original invoice or proof of installation, if available
    • Clear photos of the affected area, when possible

Have your invoice and any photos handy. We’ll explain how to provide supporting information when arranging your inspection. You can begin without every detail, but proof of installation and other records may be required to complete a manufacturer claim.

  2. We inspect and document

Kickin’ Customs inspects the concern, documents the issue and reviews the available installation records. When manufacturer review is appropriate, we help submit the necessary information to XPEL.

  3. We explain the next step

We explain whether cleaning, maintenance, installation attention, repair or panel replacement is appropriate. If manufacturer claim work is needed, we follow XPEL’s decision and authorized process before proceeding.

Questions About Warranty and Support

Does the manufacturer warranty cover a rock strike or scrape?

No. Rock impacts and scrapes are outside manufacturer defect coverage. Eligible original customers may have one-time No-Fault assistance toward replacement, or we can explain other repair options after inspecting the affected area.

Does replacement restart the warranty?

No. Approved manufacturer replacement remains within the original warranty period. XPEL determines eligibility and the remedy under its applicable terms.

Is Fusion’s additional coverage a water-beading guarantee?

No. Its additional four-year provision concerns qualifying oxidation, gloss loss, UV damage and fading. A change in water behavior needs assessment rather than an automatic warranty diagnosis.

Are annual inspections required for every film listed here?

The annual certified inspection requirement described here applies to ULTIMATE FUSION. It is separate from Kickin’ Customs’ complimentary three-week workmanship follow-up. Review the terms for your exact product.

Can I ask for help without my invoice or film details?

Yes. Start with your vehicle and the help you need, even if the film type or installation date is unknown. Proof of installation, the original installation date and supporting records may be required to complete a manufacturer claim. We’ll explain how to provide them.

Can the No-Fault benefit cover an insurance claim?

No. Insurance claims are excluded. The one-time benefit has its own eligibility terms and is separate from manufacturer warranty and workmanship coverage.

What is the difference between a manufacturer defect and an installation concern?

Manufacturer coverage addresses qualifying defects in the film itself. Kickin’ Customs’ one-year workmanship guarantee covers installation-related defects in our original installations and requires the complimentary three-week follow-up. We inspect the concern to establish its cause; every lifted edge is not automatically a covered installation defect.

Can Kickin’ Customs inspect PPF installed somewhere else?

Yes. We can inspect film installed elsewhere and explain what we see, but we do not take over another installer’s workmanship warranty. Inspection or repair of film installed elsewhere may involve a charge. We’ll confirm any charges before proceeding.

Can the XPEL manufacturer warranty transfer to a new owner?

Yes. ULTIMATE PLUS, STEALTH and ULTIMATE FUSION manufacturer warranties can transfer when the new owner submits proof of the original installation date to XPEL. Only the remainder of the original warranty period transfers. Keep the original installation and inspection records, and continue required FUSION inspections. This does not automatically transfer Kickin’ Customs workmanship coverage, and our No-Fault benefit is for the original customer only.

What happens if I miss the annual FUSION inspection window?

XPEL states that failing to complete the required annual inspection within 30 days before or after the installation anniversary or previous inspection/service date will void its limited warranty. Use an XPEL-certified FUSION installer, keep proof of inspections and allow for any inspection charges. This is separate from our complimentary three-week workmanship follow-up.

Does a stain or lifted edge always mean the film needs replacement?

No. Inspection comes first. Some surface conditions need cleaning or maintenance, while an installation concern may need attention to the affected area. Repair or panel replacement is considered when appropriate. Contact us immediately for a loose or flapping edge, an edge lifted during washing, or dirt entering an open edge with exposed adhesive; leave that edge alone.
