Less Scrubbing. Easier Wheel Care.

Brake dust, road film and salt make wheels demanding to maintain. Wheel faces collect visible dust, while inner barrels and calipers collect grime in areas that are harder to reach during routine washing.

Our Raynham, Massachusetts shop provides XPEL wheel and caliper coating for drivers throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Choose visible wheel-face coverage or the wheels-off service below.

What Does Wheel And Caliper Ceramic Coating Do?

Wheel and caliper ceramic coating cures into a thin, transparent surface layer. It creates hydrophobic behavior and a slicker maintenance surface that can make ordinary brake dust, road film, and grime easier to remove. XPEL specifically designs FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper for the heat, chemical exposure, and wear these areas experience.

Wheel and Caliper Coating Benefits

  • Helps ordinary brake dust and road grime release more easily
  • Adds water-repelling behavior to compatible coated surfaces
  • Can improve depth, shine, and surface clarity on gloss finishes
  • Provides heat and chemical resistance appropriate to the product and surface
  • Reduces routine cleaning effort when the wheels are washed consistently

Quick answer:  Wheel and caliper ceramic coating creates a slick, water-repellent layer that makes brake dust and road grime easier to wash away. It also adds heat and chemical resistance to compatible finishes, helping simplify routine maintenance.

  • Preparation matched to the finish and condition.
  • XPEL FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper application to the agreed areas.
  • Final inspection and aftercare guidance.

Starting prices are for a typical four-wheel passenger vehicle with serviceable finishes. Wheel-removal exceptions are limited to safety or vehicle/wheel compatibility concerns. We discuss any exception and confirm the accessible coverage before proceeding.

Why Use a Dedicated Wheel and Caliper Coating?

Wheels and calipers face repeated heat cycles, brake dust, road film and cleaning demands. XPEL FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper is selected for those surfaces, while preparation is matched to the finish and the areas being coated. These illustrative examples show why both matter.

Illustrative closeup of brake dust buildup around wheel spokes and recesses

Brake Dust

Residue collects around spokes and inside barrels. Coating helps ordinary buildup release during cleaning; it does not stop brake dust from forming.

Detailed Preparation

Tight spokes, lug recesses, inner barrels and caliper shapes require careful preparation and access. The selected coverage determines where that work takes place.

Heat Exposure

Repeated temperature changes around the brakes are part of the environment a wheel-specific coating must tolerate.

New England Road Exposure

Massachusetts and Rhode Island driving can leave salt, deicing residue and road film on the wheels. Consistent, finish-safe washing remains important after coating.

Coat a Sound Finish. Keep Repairs Separate.

Coating helps preserve the prepared surface; it does not repair curb rash, chips, corrosion, peeling clear coat, or unstable powder coating. Repair or refinishing may be needed first. Coating is not a barrier against curbs or road impacts, and does not guarantee against pitting or water spots.

We do not coat brake rotors, pads, friction surfaces, tires, mounting surfaces, lug seats, hoses, bleeders, or other functional areas.

Can Your Wheels and Calipers Be Ceramic Coated?

The finish, condition, and accessibility determine which surfaces can be coated and how we prepare them. We inspect your wheels and calipers before confirming the service.

Preparation Matched to the Finish

Factory clear coat, powder coat, polished metal, chrome, and matte finishes require different preparation. Specialty finishes may need a test area or manufacturer guidance to confirm compatibility and preserve their appearance.

Condition Checked Before Application

We look for existing coatings, contamination, curb damage, peeling, and corrosion. This helps identify any cleaning, preparation, or repairs needed before coating.

Fresh Finishes Given Time to Cure

Recently painted or powder-coated wheels and calipers must complete the refinisher’s recommended cure period before ceramic coating is applied.

How Is Wheel and Caliper Ceramic Coating Applied?

1. Inspect & Prepare

We review the finish, condition, existing contamination, hardware, and selected coverage. Once the surfaces have cooled, we clean and decontaminate suitable areas using finish-appropriate methods.

2. Access & Apply

We apply XPEL FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper to the agreed surfaces. Full service includes wheel removal to access, prepare, and coat compatible inner barrels and caliper surfaces. If safety or vehicle/wheel compatibility prevents removal, we discuss the exception and confirm accessible coverage before proceeding.

3. Cure & Inspect

We allow the coating to begin curing, complete reinstallation for the wheels-off service using our established procedures, and inspect the finished work before pickup.

Wheel and Caliper Ceramic Coating FAQs

Does ceramic coating stop brake dust?

No. The vehicle will continue to create brake dust. Coating helps ordinary residue release more easily during proper cleaning, but contamination can still collect and can still damage a neglected finish.

Does wheel ceramic coating prevent corrosion or pitting?

No. It can add resistance to ordinary environmental exposure, but it does not guarantee against corrosion, pitting, oxidation, staining, or damage from brake dust, road salt, chemicals, chips, or an already failing finish.

What is included in the $395 wheel-face option?

The accessible outward-facing wheel faces and spokes are cleaned, prepared, and coated. Inner barrels, calipers, backs of inaccessible spokes, brake components, tire rubber, mounting surfaces, and repairs are not included.

What is included in the $995 full option?

Wheel removal and reinstallation are standard and included. We prepare and coat the wheel faces, inner barrels, and compatible caliper surfaces. IR-assisted curing is optional. Removal exceptions are limited to safety or vehicle/wheel compatibility concerns. If removal is not possible, we discuss the exception and confirm accessible coverage before proceeding.

Are the prices exact for every vehicle?

They are starting prices for typical four-wheel passenger vehicles with serviceable finishes. Large wheels, additional wheels, intricate designs, multi-piece construction, heavy contamination, specialty hardware, or damaged finishes can change the final quote.

Do you remove the wheels?

Yes. Wheel removal and reinstallation are standard with Full Wheels & Calipers. Wheel Faces service keeps the wheels installed. Exceptions are limited to safety or vehicle/wheel compatibility concerns and are discussed before proceeding. If removal is not possible, we confirm the accessible coverage before work.

Do you coat brake rotors or pads?

No. Brake rotors, pads, friction surfaces, rubber components, hoses, bleeders, mounting surfaces, lug seats, and other functional areas are intentionally not coated.

Can matte, satin, chrome, polished, or powder-coated wheels be coated?

Many stable specialty finishes can be evaluated, but preparation and appearance risk vary. We inspect the finish, refinishing history, condition, and manufacturer guidance before confirming compatibility.

Can you coat damaged or corroded wheels?

Coating cannot repair curb rash, chips, peeling clear coat, unstable powder coat, corrosion, staining, or baked-on contamination. Repair or refinishing may be required before coating, and some finishes may not be suitable.

Will coating prevent curb rash or scratches?

No. Ceramic coating is too thin to prevent contact damage from curbs, tools, road debris, harsh brushes, or improper washing.

Can coated wheels still get water spots?

Yes. Mineral-heavy water can still dry on the surface and leave deposits or staining. Water spots are also excluded from XPEL’s published wheel and caliper coating warranty.

How long does XPEL wheel and caliper coating last?

XPEL currently publishes a 3-year limited warranty for professionally installed FUSION PLUS Wheel & Caliper, subject to registration, maintenance, annual inspection, exclusions, and the current written terms.

How soon can the wheels get wet?

XPEL’s current technical data sheet lists 24 hours before getting wet and approximately 7 days for full cure hardness. Follow the project-specific instructions provided at delivery.

Can I use wheel cleaner after coating?

Yes, after the initial cure period, but use a finish-safe product and gentle tools. Strong acids, harsh alkaline degreasers, abrasives, and aggressive brushes can damage the coating or underlying finish.

Where is the service performed?
