Immobilizer Owner Support

Understand your system and get help with everyday use

Your immobilizer adds an authorization requirement before the vehicle can be driven in its protected configuration. This guide explains what to look for during normal use, how to prepare for a service visit, and what to check if something changes.

Choose I Have IGLA, I Have SPYNEX, or I Am Not Sure. We will help you find the guidance that fits your vehicle and installed system.

Start with the setup demonstrated at your installation. A working vehicle key, an unlocked door, or a running engine does not necessarily mean the immobilizer has accepted authorization to drive. Use the confirmation and operating order shown for your vehicle.

If the vehicle is not operating safely

If the vehicle loses power, will not move normally, or displays a warning that affects safe operation, stop in a safe place and arrange appropriate assistance. Do not keep attempting to drive to see whether the problem clears. The support form is for shop assistance during business hours; it is not an emergency response service.

For an immediate threat or suspected theft, contact the appropriate authorities. Your safety comes before operating the immobilizer or retrieving the vehicle.

Identify the system in your vehicle

Start with your installation record

Your quote, invoice, owner paperwork, or installation handover should identify the brand and configuration. Look for IGLA, an IGLA package description, SPYNEX Pin, or SPYNEX Tag. Your paperwork may also list additional protection or related equipment.

If it only says “immobilizer,” contact us with the vehicle year, make, model, and approximate installation date. You do not need to remove trim or locate the concealed equipment. We can begin with the installation record.

Shop review before applying any product-specific procedure

Package wording is a starting point. A feature listed for a product family may not be enabled in your installation. Two cars with the same brand of immobilizer can have different authorization methods, dashboard indications, and remote-start arrangements.

Keep an owner record without exposing your credentials

Maintain a private record of the brand, vehicle, installation date, authorized drivers, and the phone or tag normally used. Include the app name and a description of your normal confirmation. Record whether remote start, an alarm, GPS tracking, or additional immobilizer protection is installed.

Keep the actual PIN, recovery information, pairing codes, and any personal owner card separate from routine service notes. Those details should not appear on the public support form or in a screenshot sent with an ordinary question. If we need to review sensitive ownership information, we will explain the appropriate next step.

Learn the difference between your keys and authorization devices

The vehicle key operates the factory functions for which it was programmed. An immobilizer tag or an approved phone setup supplies a separate form of authorization where configured. A remote-start remote has another role. Similar-looking devices are not interchangeable.

Ask us to identify each item at handover. If you have several vehicles, keep their equipment clearly associated with the correct car without writing secret codes on the devices.

Understand what each part of the system does

Authorization is permission for the installed immobilizer function

When you authorize, the immobilizer recognizes an approved method for the current operating situation. The method may involve your vehicle buttons, a registered tag, or a supported phone configuration. Which methods work, and whether one or more are required, depends on the installation.

Do not assume that carrying a tag always replaces a PIN, or that installing an app automatically makes the phone an authorization device. Ask which method is primary, which alternatives were configured, and what confirmation proves that the vehicle accepted the intended method.

Understand the practical limits

An immobilizer is part of the vehicle’s security arrangement. It does not prevent every form of entry, theft of contents, towing, or damage. It also does not automatically contact police or provide vehicle recovery.

Continue locking the vehicle and taking your keys and authorization devices with you. NHTSA recommends removing keys, securing doors and windows, and keeping valuables out of sight when parking. Vehicle theft prevention guidance

Build a consistent daily routine

Before the first drive after installation

Make sure you can explain your own setup before relying on it. A useful handover covers the following points:

  1. Identify the immobilizer and any additional installed features.
  2. Identify the normal authorization method and any configured alternative.
  3. Recognize the exact confirmation shown or heard in your vehicle.
  4. Understand the normal order for authorization and starting or preparing to drive.
  5. Understand how normal protection resumes after parking.
  6. Know what to do before a dealer visit, valet handoff, or vehicle transport.
  7. Know where your private owner instructions are kept and how to request help.
  8. Review remote-start operation separately if it is installed.

If one of those points is unclear, ask for an owner orientation. Watching a demonstration of a different vehicle is not enough to establish how yours was configured.

Use the routine demonstrated for your vehicle

With the vehicle stationary, use your normal factory access method. Follow the authorization routine supplied for the installed system and wait for its expected confirmation before attempting to drive.

If the confirmation is missing or different, pause. Read any vehicle warning, note which authorization device you have, and use the relevant troubleshooting entry below. Avoid combining several unfamiliar steps from different videos.

The vehicle’s own starting requirements still apply. An immobilizer does not replace the factory key, resolve a weak vehicle battery, or correct a mechanical fault. A hybrid or electric vehicle may indicate readiness differently from a conventional engine. Follow the vehicle manual and your installation orientation.

Make parking part of the routine

After parking, follow the normal shutdown and locking process and take your authorization devices with you. Use the arming behavior explained for your installation. Do not leave an assigned tag or a phone used for authorization in the vehicle as a permanent convenience.

If you use walkaway-related functions, learn what the feature actually changes. A feature name does not prove that the doors locked. Confirm the expected vehicle response without using a test that could unexpectedly authorize or move the car.

When another person will drive

Arrange the correct access before handing over the factory key. The other driver should know the normal confirmation and what to do if it does not appear. If that person needs ongoing access, ask us to review the available authorization arrangement rather than assuming your phone setup can be copied.

Temporary service access and regular driver access have different purposes. A car left indefinitely in service mode is not following its normal protected operating routine.

IGLA owner guidance

IGLA How-To Videos

Match the installed AUTHOR product and configuration

IGLA operating guidance must match your exact AUTHOR product, vehicle, firmware, and enabled features. The manufacturer identifies PIN, keyfob, and smartphone authorization options, with availability dependent on the model and configuration.

Your vehicle may be configured around authorization before starting, before driving, or another supported sequence demonstrated at installation. Do not infer that the system is inactive just because the engine starts. The correct interpretation depends on how your vehicle is protected.

Know which authorization methods are enabled

PIN authorization: Use the private sequence taught for your vehicle. Keep the sequence confidential and recognize the actual confirmation. The same buttons can also perform ordinary vehicle functions, so a radio or dashboard response is not necessarily the immobilizer’s authorization confirmation.

Bluetooth keyfob or approved tag: Carry the assigned device according to the installation guidance. A tag being physically present does not prove that the system recognized it. A damaged tag, a battery concern, or a change in the configured method requires the appropriate check.

Phone authorization: Use the app and phone configuration approved for your IGLA installation. AUTHOR ID is an app that can make a compatible, registered smartphone function as a keyfob. Downloading it alone does not register the phone or establish compatibility with every AUTHOR product. AUTHOR ID for iPhone AUTHOR ID for Android

If your setup uses more than one authorization requirement, preserve that arrangement. Do not change modes because a general guide describes a more convenient option.

Read confirmation in the context of your vehicle

Learn the specific indicator or sound used at your handover and when it occurs. A normal dashboard startup check, a door-lock flash, and an immobilizer confirmation may be separate events.

If the vehicle was recently serviced or updated and the indication changed, note the work performed and whether normal authorization still occurs. Do not keep trying to drive without understanding an unfamiliar warning. We can review the symptom against the recorded installation.

Keep the owner card private

Your IGLA personal owner card can contain information used for pairing and recovery. Store it securely away from the vehicle and keep any backup private. Do not place a photograph of it in the support form, an online review, or a video.

If it is missing, contact us and say whether you still have a working authorization method. Do not assume a replacement card or immediate recovery is available. The next step depends on the product and the information still available to the verified owner.

Treat AUTHOR apps as different tools

AUTHOR ID, AUTHOR Connect, and configuration tools have different roles. An app with an AUTHOR name is not automatically the right choice for the installed immobilizer. A manufacturer page describing connected services also does not establish that your vehicle has the additional equipment required for those services.

Use the app named in your installation record. If another app is already present on the phone, record its name before changing anything. Do not download installer tools, add a different vehicle profile, or delete a working registration as a general troubleshooting step.

Review optional IGLA protection with us

Some approved IGLA packages include additional protection described as anti-carjacking or Walkaway Protection. Those functions are configuration-dependent. Ask us to explain what is installed, what conditions matter during ordinary use, and how the system communicates with the owner.

Walkaway Protection, factory walkaway door locking, and an additional keyless-access protection module are not interchangeable descriptions. AUTHOR also offers separate keyless-access products. Their existence does not establish what hardware or behavior is included in your IGLA installation.

If your paperwork names a Digital Contour Wireless Block Module or another additional module, have us match the guidance to that exact part. Do not apply an unrelated keyless-access product’s operating instructions because both are described as additional security.

Anti-carjacking guidance belongs in an orientation for the verified owner of the configured vehicle. Do not rehearse a carjacking, leave a running vehicle to test a trigger, or attempt to provoke a shutdown on the road. If unfamiliar indications occur during ordinary use, arrange a review before repeating the situation.

Request IGLA Owner Instructions

Ask for the resource that matches your task: daily authorization, phone or keyfob use, PIN management, service preparation, or the additional features installed in your vehicle. We will confirm the system and ownership before supplying configuration-specific instructions.

SPYNEX owner guidance

Identify Pin or Tag before following instructions

SPYNEX Pin and SPYNEX Tag share the purpose of controlling authorization, but the equipment and everyday methods differ. The manufacturer describes SPYNEX Pin as the version without an authorization tag and SPYNEX Tag as the version supplied with a tag and supporting PIN authorization. SPYNEX Pin information SPYNEX Tag information

The app installed on a phone does not identify which hardware is in the car. Check the installation record. If you received a tag, confirm that it is the SPYNEX authorization device for that vehicle.

SPYNEX Pin

Your everyday routine centers on the PIN authorization demonstrated using the vehicle’s supported controls. Know the confirmation and the proper operating order for your installation.

Do not expect a SPYNEX Pin installation to recognize a tag simply because another SPYNEX vehicle uses one. If you want to change how you authorize, ask us to review the installed hardware and available configuration first.

The owner app can support functions such as PIN management and service mode where configured. Those functions need their own instructions. Opening the app is not a substitute for learning the normal vehicle-button authorization routine.

SPYNEX Tag

Keep track of the assigned tag and understand the PIN method supplied at handover. The tag and the factory vehicle key perform different jobs. If the tag cannot be used, follow only the alternative method already configured and demonstrated for your vehicle.

If the app provides tag battery information, use it to plan a replacement before recognition becomes unreliable. Make sure the displayed information relates to the connected system and relevant tag. An old status or a screen that is not connected should not be treated as a fresh measurement.

When obtaining a replacement or an additional tag, have compatibility and registration reviewed. A newly purchased tag does not become authorized simply by being placed near the vehicle. Registration is separate from replacing the battery in an already assigned device.

Use SPYNEX Control for the owner functions demonstrated

The current owner app is listed as Spynex Control. Its published functions include supported disarming, service-mode access, and a location associated with the last arming event. That location feature is not live GPS tracking. SPYNEX Control for iPhone SPYNEX Control for Android

Use the connection method taught for your installation. Do not assume the app can perform commands from anywhere or that a phone with internet access is connected to the immobilizer. A local connection and a remote tracking service have different requirements.

SPYNEX also has installer software. The owner app and installer tools have different purposes. Firmware changes, tag registration, and installation settings should follow the shop’s service process. They are not ordinary owner troubleshooting steps.

Understand why two SPYNEX installations can behave differently

SPYNEX supports installations that use the vehicle’s digital communications, arrangements that combine digital information with another blocking method, and analog configurations. These are installation choices for the actual vehicle, not modes the owner should cycle through to solve a problem.

The useful question is what normal authorization and confirmation look like in your car. Ask us about a change in that behavior. You do not need to inspect wiring, identify a blocking point, or select firmware to request support.

Keep the owner information with the right vehicle

Retain the supplied owner paperwork and keep any secret or recovery information private. If the vehicle is changing owners, or if access must be changed after a lost phone or tag, arrange a review before deleting registrations or passing along the old instructions.

Manufacturer guidance identifies the PIN as an authorization option independent of the app or tag. Apply that guidance to the PIN method configured in your installation, rather than assuming an unfamiliar sequence will work. SPYNEX owner questions

Keep phone and tag access dependable

A phone change is also an access change

Before replacing a phone, confirm that you have another working authorization method if one was configured. Keep the old phone available until the new setup has been reviewed and normal operation is confirmed. Restoring a phone backup does not, by itself, prove that the new phone is registered with the immobilizer.

  1. Record the owner app name, current phone model, and operating system.
  2. Confirm which method you can use while the phone setup is being changed.
  3. Use the verified-owner instructions for adding or replacing the phone.
  4. Review the permissions and connection requirements specified for that app.
  5. Confirm normal authorization and the expected vehicle response while safely stationary.
  6. Ask how access from the old phone should be removed before it is sold, traded, or given away.

Removing an app from a phone and removing that phone’s registration from an immobilizer are different actions. Do not assume one performs the other.

After an app or operating system update

Check whether the app opens normally and still shows the intended vehicle or device. For a phone used as an authorization device, verify the Bluetooth and app permissions required by the current instructions. Note any setting the phone reports as disabled or restricted.

Then use the normal stationary authorization routine. If the phone works only with the app open, or behavior changed immediately after the update, report that pattern. Keep the version details available. Do not repeatedly reinstall the app or remove a working registration without guidance.

A notification permission and the permission needed for the app’s connection may do different things. Follow the actual app guidance instead of granting unrelated permissions to see whether the issue clears.

If the phone is unavailable

A flat phone battery, a damaged phone, or a lost phone requires the alternative authorization arrangement set up for your vehicle. Use that known method if available. If you do not have a working alternative, contact us for the verified-owner support process.

Do not assume that borrowing another person’s phone and signing into an app makes that phone an authorized device. An app account, a local pairing, and the vehicle’s stored authorization can be separate parts of the setup.

Plan tag battery replacement around the actual device

Ask which battery the supplied tag uses and which replacement method applies to its housing. Use the specified battery type and orientation, and follow the manufacturer instructions for opening and closing that exact tag. A battery that fits is not enough to establish that it is the correct type.

Have a working alternative authorization method available before servicing the tag, where one is configured. After replacement, make sure the housing closes properly and confirm normal recognition using the usual stationary routine. Battery replacement should not become an improvised pairing or reset attempt.

Do not use a generic button sequence from another tag. If the housing is damaged, the device was wet, or recognition remains inconsistent, ask us to inspect or replace it. Follow the battery manufacturer’s handling and disposal instructions and keep loose cells away from children and pets.

Keep access devices accounted for

Know who has each assigned phone or tag. If a device is missing, distinguish a battery problem from a lost credential. Replacing a battery addresses power; it does not remove access from a missing device.

Report a lost tag or an exposed PIN promptly so the appropriate access change can be reviewed. Do not post the PIN or recovery information in a group conversation while seeking help.

Manage your PIN and owner information

Keep different codes separate

Your everyday authorization PIN, an app login, a pairing credential, and a recovery code may serve different purposes. Treat the label on the supplied information as meaningful. Do not enter one type of code into an unrelated screen or assume a factory key code is the immobilizer PIN.

When a PIN change is appropriate

A change may be appropriate when someone no longer needs access, when a sequence has been exposed, or when an owner has difficulty using the current arrangement. Contact us if the vehicle controls used for entry were replaced or no longer function normally.

Use the verified instructions for your system and vehicle. Understand how the new setting is confirmed and what to do if confirmation is absent before starting the change. Do not experiment with different programming sequences while trying to leave for an appointment.

After an approved change, make sure each authorized driver receives the appropriate updated guidance privately. Avoid leaving old written information where it can be mistaken for the current setup.

If you forget the PIN

Use another working method only if it was configured for your vehicle. Gather the vehicle and installation details and say whether the private owner materials are available. We will review the legitimate recovery route for the installed product.

Repeated guesses, battery disconnections, and random reset instructions are not a recovery plan. Recovery may require a service visit or manufacturer involvement. We cannot determine the correct procedure from a brand name alone.

If the owner card or recovery information is missing

Contact us before a phone change, sale, or service visit creates an immediate need for that information. Keep any remaining working method available. Do not discard the installed system’s paperwork because a newer generic manual is available online.

An owner card from another vehicle should never be substituted. If someone else holds the original information, arrange an authorized transfer or review instead of copying unknown credentials.

Prepare for dealer visits and temporary handoffs

Make the arrangement before the appointment

An immobilizer can affect how a technician, valet, or transport operator starts and moves the vehicle. Arrange the appropriate temporary access before handing over the factory key. Tell us if the work includes software updates, replacement keys, battery service, interior repairs, or other electronics changes.

Service mode is intended to temporarily suspend the relevant protection functions for legitimate work. Its entry, confirmation, exit, and any automatic behavior must match the installed product. Do not assume it operates the same way in IGLA and SPYNEX.

Prepare the vehicle and the handoff

  1. Confirm the appointment type and whether someone must move the car or keep it overnight.
  2. Review the verified service instructions before the vehicle leaves your control.
  3. Confirm the expected service-mode status using those instructions.
  4. Give the provider the necessary factory keys and practical handoff information.
  5. Retain your private PIN and owner recovery information.
  6. Agree who will contact you if the vehicle cannot be moved normally.
  7. Plan to restore and confirm normal protection when the vehicle is returned.

This checklist prepares the visit. It does not replace the vehicle-specific service-mode procedure. If you cannot confirm the mode, call before the appointment rather than handing over a vehicle that may not operate as expected.

Give the provider useful information

Tell the provider that the vehicle has an aftermarket immobilizer and that temporary access has been arranged. Ask them to contact you before changing the agreed setup or disturbing added electronics. The useful information is what they need to do their job, not your private authorization sequence or the concealed equipment location.

For a short valet handoff, confirm the arrangement before reaching a busy entrance. For an overnight dealer visit, account for a longer period away from you. For a transport company, discuss loading, unloading, and whether the vehicle must be moved at an intermediate location.

Account for road tests and automatic mode changes

Some system versions have automatic service-mode exit behavior. Do not assume that time parked, a specific distance, or a test drive leaves the mode unchanged. Use the rule verified for your installation and tell the provider to contact you if the operating state changes during the work.

Avoid promising a technician that the vehicle will remain in a particular mode indefinitely. If the planned work does not fit the normal temporary-access arrangement, have us review it in advance.

Check the vehicle when it is returned

Ask what work was performed and whether any battery, key, software, or electrical change occurred. Use the verified instructions to restore normal protection and confirm the expected status. Then confirm normal owner authorization before driving away.

If the indication or behavior is unfamiliar, address it before assuming the handoff is complete. A successful drive home does not establish that the immobilizer was returned to its normal protected configuration.

Automatic car washes and unusual handoffs

If an attendant or conveyor process requires particular vehicle controls or movement, review that situation before using it. The vehicle manufacturer’s requirements and the installed immobilizer arrangement both matter. Do not select a mode simply because a sign at the entrance gives generic instructions for all cars.

For repeated use by staff or family, arrange ongoing authorized access. Temporary service mode should not become the default solution for everyday driving.

Use remote start with the installed integration

Separate engine starting from permission to drive

A compatible remote-start system may run the engine while the immobilizer continues to control the appropriate drive-authorization function. That behavior must be reviewed for the actual vehicle and installation. A remote-start confirmation does not, by itself, prove that takeover is ready.

Follow the handover sequence demonstrated for your combination. If the engine stops when you unlock, open a door, press the brake, or prepare to drive, record the exact point at which it stopped. The cause can involve factory behavior, remote-start programming, authorization, or another fault.

Keep ordinary start and remote start observations separate

When requesting help, explain whether the vehicle operates normally using its factory key and normal authorization. Then describe what happens with remote start. That comparison can identify which part of the experience needs review without assuming the immobilizer caused it.

What you observe

Useful information for support

Normal authorized starts work but remote start does not

The issue began after a new key or software update

Date, work performed, and whether any installation settings were changed

Do not leave an authorization tag in the vehicle, leave service mode active, or disconnect equipment to make remote start appear to work. Those actions change the setup and can hide the original problem.

Before adding or changing remote start

Have the integration reviewed before replacing remote-start hardware, adding an app module, or changing factory connected features. A setup that works on another model may not apply to your vehicle or software version.

Use Remote Start Owner Support for normal starting conditions and remote controls. Return to this page for immobilizer authorization and the private instructions matched to your vehicle.

Review changes to the vehicle and its access

Vehicle battery work

Record any weak-battery symptoms, jump-start event, battery replacement, or electrical repair that occurred before a change in operation. Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions for battery service. Disconnecting the vehicle battery is not a general immobilizer reset procedure.

The vehicle battery, factory key battery, and immobilizer tag battery are separate items. Tell us which one was serviced. Replacing one does not establish that the others are healthy.

After professional battery work, confirm normal vehicle operation and the immobilizer’s expected authorization and protection states. If warnings remain or the car behaves differently, have the condition reviewed before making further changes.

Factory keys and digital vehicle access

Tell the dealer or locksmith that the vehicle has an aftermarket immobilizer before key programming. Arrange the proper service access and coordination for the work. Some protection configurations can affect what key-related work is permitted.

Adding a factory key or a vehicle manufacturer’s phone key does not automatically add an immobilizer credential. Review those access systems separately. When a factory key is lost, ask which factory and aftermarket access changes are needed instead of assuming one action resolves both.

Software updates and replacement modules

Before planned vehicle software work, tell the provider about the installed equipment and ask whether the work could change the relevant controls or communication. Keep the work order afterward. This gives us a clear starting point if authorization or remote-start behavior changes.

The same review is useful after control-module replacement, steering-wheel or switch replacement, collision repairs, or other electrical changes. A button that no longer functions correctly can create a different problem from a forgotten PIN.

Do not load firmware or select an alternate vehicle profile yourself. The correct software and settings depend on the hardware, vehicle, and installation. An available update is not proof that it is appropriate for your system.

Extended storage

Prepare the vehicle according to its manufacturer’s storage guidance and its actual battery-maintenance needs. Keep owner materials and authorization devices accessible to the responsible person. A vehicle that has been parked for months should be checked before its first planned trip.

Do not assume an immobilizer has an unlimited independent power supply. Ask us to review any long-term shutdown or special transport requirement. Routine storage and temporary suspension of protection are different decisions.

Troubleshoot the symptom you are seeing

How to use this section

Start with the entry that matches the actual symptom. Keep the vehicle stationary while reviewing app settings or owner instructions. Use only the normal authorization methods already configured for your vehicle. If there is a safety-related warning or the vehicle stops unexpectedly, arrange assistance instead of repeating a driving attempt.

Each entry explains what to check, what you can reasonably do next, and when to contact us. Exact service-mode, programming, and recovery sequences remain in the verified-owner instructions.

The vehicle will not start or become ready

Check: Note whether the factory key is recognized, whether the vehicle shows battery or other warnings, and whether the immobilizer’s expected authorization confirmation appeared. Distinguish no cranking, cranking without starting, and failure to show the vehicle’s normal ready state.

Try: With the vehicle safely stationary, review the normal starting and authorization routine for your installation. Use a known configured alternative only if it was demonstrated to you. Stop repeated attempts if the battery weakens or the vehicle displays a serious warning.

Contact us when: The normal routine no longer works or you cannot identify the confirmation. If the vehicle cannot operate safely, arrange appropriate roadside assistance. Do not conclude that every no-start condition is caused by the immobilizer.

The engine starts but the vehicle will not move normally

Check: Record whether authorization was confirmed and what happens when preparing to drive. Note the exact dashboard message and whether the engine remains running.

Try: Keep the vehicle stationary. Review the installation’s normal operating order without attempting to force a gear selection or repeated movement. If it shut down unexpectedly, do not reproduce the event on the road.

Contact us when: The behavior differs from the handover demonstration or any warning makes operation uncertain. Starting the engine alone may not complete the configured authorization requirement.

I cannot recognize the authorization confirmation

Check: Identify which light or sound you normally use and whether you are confusing it with the factory startup display, door locking, or an alarm response. Note any recent vehicle software or instrument-panel work.

Try: Review the exact owner orientation for the vehicle. Record the non-secret indication or message, keeping your PIN entry and private owner materials out of any recording.

Contact us when: You cannot distinguish normal confirmation from another vehicle signal. Ask for an orientation review before attempting to drive through an uncertain state.

The doors unlock but the immobilizer still needs authorization

Check: Determine which device unlocked the doors and which method is configured to authorize the immobilizer. The factory key and an immobilizer tag may be separate.

Try: Use the normal authorized routine shown at installation. Verify the immobilizer’s own confirmation rather than treating a door-unlock response as proof.

Contact us when: The configured method used to authorize automatically and no longer does. Describe the change and which devices were present, without changing the system to another mode.

My usual PIN routine is not being accepted

Check: Confirm you are using the correct vehicle’s routine and its normal operating state. Note whether a control used for entry is damaged, was replaced, or no longer performs its ordinary vehicle function.

Try: Consult the private instructions and make one deliberate normal attempt if the vehicle is otherwise safe. Use an already configured alternative if available. Do not cycle through guessed PINs or programming procedures.

Contact us when: A previously working routine remains unsuccessful, a vehicle control has changed, or no alternative is available. Keep any owner card or recovery information private until the appropriate support process is arranged.

I forgot the PIN or lost the owner card

Check: Determine whether you still have a working authorization method and which owner materials remain available. A PIN problem and missing recovery information are different details we need to know.

Try: Gather the vehicle, installation date, and your callback details. Keep a working phone or tag available and contact us for verified-owner help.

Contact us when: You need recovery, a replacement owner resource, or confirmation of what information applies. Do not assume another vehicle’s code, a downloaded manual, or disconnecting power can restore access.

My IGLA phone authorization stopped working

Check: Confirm the app named for your installation, the intended phone, and the required Bluetooth and app permissions. Note whether the issue followed an app update, phone update, or changed setting.

Try: Use the configured alternative authorization method if available. Open the correct owner app while stationary and record the status or error. Follow the phone checks in the matched instructions.

Contact us when: Recognition remains unreliable, works only with the app open, or the phone no longer appears to be registered. Avoid deleting the registration or installing a different AUTHOR app as an experiment.

I replaced my phone and the restored app does not work

Check: Record the old and new phone models, app name, and whether the old phone still authorizes. A restored app icon does not establish registration of the replacement phone.

Try: Keep the old phone and any configured alternative available. Request the correct phone-change instructions and complete the supported verification before retiring the old device.

Contact us when: You no longer have the old phone, cannot use an alternative, or need old-phone access removed. Tell us whether the device was lost, traded, or simply replaced.

The tag is present but the vehicle does not recognize it

Check: Confirm it is the assigned tag for this car. Note damage, moisture exposure, recent battery replacement, and any battery information available through the correctly connected owner app.

Try: Use the normal carry and authorization routine demonstrated at handover. If a configured alternative works, record that difference. Follow the exact tag battery guidance if replacement is indicated.

Contact us when: The correct tag remains inconsistent or no known method works. Do not use random tag-button sequences or assume the factory key battery powers the immobilizer tag.

I replaced the tag battery and it still does not work

Check: Verify the specified battery type, orientation, secure housing, and whether the tag was damaged during replacement. Record the exact device model if known.

Try: Follow the owner battery instructions for that tag. Use another configured method to avoid being stranded. Do not begin pairing or deletion procedures just because a battery replacement did not resolve the symptom.

Contact us when: Recognition is still absent or the housing will not close correctly. A replacement tag and an existing tag with a new battery require different support decisions.

A phone or tag has been lost or stolen

Check: Identify which credential is missing, whether the factory keys are also missing, and whether anyone else may know the PIN. Keep the remaining authorized devices accounted for.

Try: Secure the vehicle using the methods available to you and contact us promptly to review access changes. If theft or immediate danger is involved, contact the appropriate authorities.

Contact us when: A credential must be removed or replaced. Buying a new device does not automatically revoke the missing one. Do not publish private codes when asking others to help locate it.

Check: Confirm the owner app is Spynex Control, the intended vehicle is selected where applicable, and you are using the connection arrangement demonstrated for the installation. Note phone or app changes.

Try: Use the known normal authorization method if available. With the vehicle stationary, review the app permissions and connection instructions. Record the displayed status rather than repeatedly sending commands.

Contact us when: The correct app remains unable to connect or normal authorization also fails. Phone internet access alone does not establish a connection to the immobilizer. Do not switch to installer software.

The SPYNEX app location has not moved with the vehicle

Check: Identify what the screen describes and when its location was recorded. SPYNEX Control’s published location feature relates to the last arming event; it is not a live tracking subscription.

Try: Use the app feature only for the purpose described in the matched owner guidance. If you also have DroneMobile GPS tracking, use the separate tracker and check the report time there.

Contact us when: You need help identifying the installed equipment or the expected app function. Do not treat a saved position as proof of the vehicle’s current location or assume the immobilizer supplies recovery tracking.

The vehicle seems to authorize without the method I expected

Check: Consider whether another configured phone or tag was present and whether the vehicle recently entered service mode. Do not assume a single successful start proves the system failed to protect the vehicle.

Try: Record the circumstances without changing credentials or attempting a blocking test. Review the authorization arrangement documented at handover.

Contact us when: The behavior is unexplained or differs from the intended configuration. We can review which methods are active and confirm operation under the correct conditions.

I need service mode but cannot confirm the correct procedure

Check: Identify the exact system and whether you have the matched owner instructions. Note the appointment type, date, and whether a technician needs to move or keep the vehicle.

Try: Request the verified service resource before the handoff. If the instructions you have are for a different product or vehicle, stop and have them matched correctly.

Contact us when: The service state cannot be confirmed or the appointment requires an unusual arrangement. Do not substitute an IGLA sequence for SPYNEX or assume every app switch has the same effect.

The vehicle returned from service and protection seems different

Check: Ask what work occurred and whether temporary access, battery disconnection, software programming, or key changes were involved. Identify whether normal authorization and protection were confirmed at pickup.

Try: Use the verified return-from-service instructions for your installation. Record unexpected indications before making further changes.

Contact us when: You cannot confirm the intended protection state or ordinary owner operation has changed. Do not leave the car in an uncertain mode because it drove home successfully.

Remote start works but takeover does not

Check: Record when the behavior changes: unlocking, opening a door, authorization, brake application, or preparation to drive. Note whether normal factory starts work.

Try: Review the matched remote-start handover sequence. Keep the vehicle stationary and avoid repeatedly reproducing a shutdown. Preserve any remote or app error message.

Contact us when: The integration no longer behaves as demonstrated or normal authorization is uncertain. Do not leave a tag in the vehicle or use service mode as a permanent workaround.

A battery service or jump start was followed by a problem

Check: Identify which battery was involved and any warnings present before the service. Note whether the vehicle’s own systems are operating normally now.

Try: Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s guidance for the battery condition and have unresolved power concerns checked. Record the immobilizer confirmation during a normal stationary authorization attempt if safe.

Contact us when: Behavior changed after the work or authorization remains unavailable despite normal vehicle power. Repeatedly disconnecting the battery can obscure the original condition and is not a universal reset.

A dealer update or replacement key changed operation

Check: Keep the work order and identify the software, key, or vehicle component changed. Distinguish factory key recognition from immobilizer authorization.

Try: Contact the provider and us with those details so the relevant systems can be reviewed. Use only your known normal operating routine.

Contact us when: The problem began after programming or replacement work. Do not load another firmware file, remove a module, or change the vehicle profile from an installer menu.

Walkaway or keyless behavior is different

Check: Identify the exact installed feature and the observed change. Distinguish door locking, passive entry, and immobilizer authorization. Note which approved phone or tag was present.

Try: Compare the behavior with the installation orientation during ordinary parked use. Keep keys and credentials accessible. Avoid repeated experiments that could lock access devices inside the car.

Contact us when: The feature no longer behaves as demonstrated or you cannot determine which system is responsible. A general description of Walkaway Protection does not define every vehicle’s door-lock behavior.

An unfamiliar warning appears during ordinary driving

Check: Note the exact message or indication and whether vehicle operation changed. A warning should not be dismissed as an immobilizer reminder without understanding it.

Try: Bring the vehicle to a safe place if possible and follow its safety guidance. Do not operate an app or attempt programming while driving. Arrange assistance if normal operation cannot be assured.

Contact us when: The warning may involve authorization or additional protection, especially after a change in drivers, equipment, or service. Do not deliberately repeat a possible anti-carjacking trigger to diagnose it.

One driver can use the vehicle and another cannot

Check: Compare the intended authorization methods, assigned devices, and instruction versions. Do not assume the second driver was registered because they received a factory key.

Try: Review the correct orientation together while the vehicle is stationary. Keep individual credential details private and confirm the access arrangement the owner intended.

Contact us when: A regular driver needs access added or changed, or the configured method remains inconsistent. Do not leave service mode enabled to accommodate a recurring access problem.

The vehicle came with an immobilizer and I have no instructions

Check: Gather purchase information, the vehicle details, and any paperwork supplied by the previous owner. Note the brand if known without searching behind trim.

Try: Contact us to arrange identification and ownership review. Ask the seller for the original owner materials through a legitimate transfer process.

Contact us when: You need the system identified, access reviewed, or normal operation explained. Do not assume the previous owner’s phone or tag access ended when the vehicle changed hands.

I want to confirm that the immobilizer is protecting the vehicle

Check: Review the expected normal protection state, recent service-mode use, and any access changes. Note the specific concern that prompted the question.

Try: Ask us for a configuration review and an appropriate demonstration. Normal owner observations are useful, but a controlled blocking test needs the correct setup and supervision.

Contact us when: You want protection verified after installation changes, a service visit, or an unexplained event. Do not intentionally remove authorization while driving, provoke a shutdown, or disconnect equipment as a test.

Arrange access for other drivers and new owners

Regular drivers

Each regular driver should know the normal operating sequence, how confirmation appears, and whom to contact if it is missing. Agree which access devices they are responsible for and how a lost device should be reported.

If the system supports additional access, have the arrangement configured correctly. Avoid assuming that each driver can have a separate PIN, unlimited registered phones, or a copied tag. Capabilities and limits must match the actual product.

A driver no longer needs access

Review all relevant access, including factory keys, digital vehicle keys, immobilizer tags, registered phones, and any shared app accounts. Removing a user from one service does not establish that every other credential was removed.

Contact us for the appropriate immobilizer changes. Keep a private record of which access was changed and when, without circulating the secret information. If a relationship or ownership is disputed, establish the authority to make the change before attempting it.

Selling the vehicle with the immobilizer installed

Arrange the handover before completing the sale. Identify what equipment is staying, which owner documents are available, and how the new owner will receive instruction. The new owner should be able to confirm normal operation before relying on the system.

  1. Review the installed system and its condition.
  2. Arrange the legitimate change of owner access.
  3. Remove or change previous credentials through the appropriate process.
  4. Supply the correct owner materials privately.
  5. Review the new owner’s normal authorization and service arrangements.
  6. Confirm the final configuration and related equipment that remains installed.

Do not send the buyer a public video of your existing PIN as the handover. Warranty eligibility and transfer terms should be reviewed separately under the applicable written policy.

Moving equipment to another vehicle

Removal and reinstallation require a compatibility and installation review. A system working in one vehicle does not establish that the same hardware, software, or authorization controls will work in another.

Ask for a plan before removing equipment. The original vehicle must be returned to appropriate operation, and the receiving vehicle needs its own confirmed configuration and owner orientation. Do not reuse an old vehicle’s instructions as the new vehicle’s handover.

Respond to a security incident

Prioritize people and contact the authorities

If someone threatens you or attempts to take the vehicle, prioritize personal safety. Do not confront them or try to demonstrate the immobilizer’s operation. Contact the appropriate emergency service when it is safe to do so.

For a suspected vehicle theft, provide police with the vehicle description, identifying details, and relevant information you have. NHTSA advises filing a police report and notifying the insurer. Follow the reporting process for your situation. NHTSA vehicle theft guidance

Preserve relevant information

Keep the time of the event, what you observed, and any available alarm or tracker records. If a separate GPS tracker is installed, share its report time along with the location. A saved SPYNEX parking location should not be described as a current tracking report.

Retain relevant dashcam footage before normal recording can overwrite it. Use Dashcam Owner Support for the correct retrieval process. Do not reset connected devices or delete accounts while important records still need to be preserved.

Review the installation after recovery or attempted theft

If the vehicle is recovered or shows signs of interference, arrange a review before assuming all security functions remain intact. Note damaged trim, changed keys, warning messages, or missing devices without disturbing the installation yourself.

Ask us to review the equipment, owner access, and normal operation. The cause of an event and the applicable support or warranty terms require assessment; the presence of an immobilizer is not a guarantee against every loss.

Tell us what changed and what still works

Call 617-431-6858 or use the support form for installation questions, owner instruction requests, or changes in operation. Kickin’ Customs is in Raynham, Massachusetts. Shop hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Have the vehicle year, make, model, system brand if known, and approximate installation date available. Explain the symptom in ordinary terms: the confirmation is missing, the phone stopped working, the vehicle returned from service, or a driver needs access reviewed.

Tell us what still works. A PIN that authorizes while the phone does not, or normal starts that work while remote start fails, provides more useful information than saying the entire system is broken. Include recent phone changes, battery work, software updates, and key replacement.

Request the correct private owner resource

We match operating instructions to the installed system and verify ownership before providing sensitive procedures. Use the form to request an orientation, a service-mode guide, phone-change guidance, PIN help, or a review of installed additional features.

The initial request does not require your PIN, recovery code, pairing information, or a photograph of the owner card. Keep those details private. If further verification is needed, we will explain the appropriate process.

Do not include your PIN, recovery code, pairing information, passwords, or owner-card images. If the vehicle is unsafe to operate, arrange appropriate assistance. For an immediate threat or suspected theft, contact the appropriate authorities. This form is not an emergency response channel.

Understand how support and warranty are reviewed

We will identify the installed system and review the cause of the concern before determining the next service step. A vehicle battery fault, a lost device, third-party work, a software change, or a transfer request is not automatically an equipment warranty issue.

Use the applicable IGLA Warranty or SPYNEX Warranty information for coverage questions. Equipment terms and installation support can differ. This owner page does not create a new warranty, promise free diagnostics, or replace the written terms for the original installation.

Use Immobilizer Product Guides to review the systems, Immobilizer FAQs for common questions, and Immobilizer Installation and Compatibility for vehicle-specific planning. Immobilizer Packages & Pricing contains the current offer structure.

If you have an alarm, remote start, dashcam, or GPS tracker, use that service’s owner guide for its controls and support. We can help determine which part of the installed system needs attention.
