Residential Surface Coatings

Make everyday surface care easier.

Explore professional surface treatments that can improve water behavior and make routine cleaning more manageable on selected glass, tile, metal and finished hard surfaces. We assess projects across Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island from Raynham.

Make the space work for you

Less stubborn residue. A more manageable routine.

Shower glass can look clean one day and cloudy again after just a few uses. Water marks, soap residue and fingerprints can make bathroom and kitchen surfaces frustrating to maintain. Even regular cleaning doesn't stop the next round of buildup.

On suitable surfaces, professionally applied coatings can change how water and certain residues interact with the finish, helping make everyday cleaning more manageable. They won't eliminate maintenance or stop mineral deposits, but the right treatment may make routine care less frustrating.

Shower Glass

On suitable glass, water and selected residue may release more easily, helping simplify routine cleaning and drying.

Bathroom Vanities

Approved treatments may make selected water marks or everyday residue easier to manage.

Metal & Finished Panels

An appropriate coating may help selected smudges or fingerprints wipe away more easily.

What Is a Residential Surface Coating?

A residential surface coating is a thin treatment applied to a properly prepared, compatible surface. Depending on the approved product, it may help water bead or release more easily and make selected residue easier to wipe away. Unlike protection film, it doesn't add a thick physical barrier. Its primary purpose is to improve certain surface-care characteristics.

Water behavior depends on the product and surface. Beading is not waterproofing, and droplets can still leave mineral deposits. Keep using a squeegee and appropriate cleaners.

Choose for the task

Coating, film and sealer do different work.

Surface coating

A very thin treatment for compatible hard surfaces and selected care or water-behavior goals.

Surface protection film

A physical sheet for a separate wear layer, with coverage, edge and replacement considerations.

Stone or grout sealer

A purpose-built system for the particular porous material. It is not interchangeable with every coating.

The preparation matters

Start with a clean, stable surface.

Not every coating belongs on every household surface. Glass, stone, tile, metal and finished panels have different requirements. Kickin' Customs evaluates the material, existing finish, preparation needs and intended use before recommending a treatment, so the solution is selected for the surface rather than chosen by a generic coating claim.

Mineral deposits, old products, grease and residue may need attention before a coating can be considered. Cleaning and correction are separate from applying a new treatment.

  • Identify the material, existing finish, sealer and prior treatment.
  • Discuss water, food use, cleaners, heat and the appearance you want.
  • Review a sample or test area when gloss, texture or slickness could change.

Restoration, polishing, stripping, repair, caulk or grout work and another trade are included only when the proposal says so.

What to know about food, heat and wet areas

These treatments are not universally scratch-proof, stain-proof, etch-proof, heat-proof or waterproof. Acid can still etch vulnerable stone. Use cutting boards, dishes and heat-safe pads, and clean spills promptly.

Direct food contact, children’s or pet-contact surfaces and any antimicrobial or public-health claim need specific product support. No such general approval is made here. The coating does not replace cleaning or properly labeled disinfectants.

Floors, stairs, tubs, shower floors and other walking or standing surfaces require separate suitability and slip testing. Vents, labels, controls, factory coatings and appliance service access need review. Active leaks, mold, failing finishes and uncured materials require correction first.

Application, curing and later treatment

Temperature, humidity, ventilation, water and other work can affect application and cure. The handoff identifies when the surface may be touched, wetted, cleaned, loaded or heated. Household ventilation and reoccupancy needs are reviewed for the actual product; no universal odor-free or immediate-use promise is made.

Coatings can change gloss, color, texture or slickness. A sample is not a long-term performance guarantee. Removal or reapplication can require decontamination, polishing, stripping or refinishing and may change the original surface. Never mix cleaners or use unapproved abrasives, blades, harsh chemicals or steam.

A few useful answers

Questions before you choose.

Is a surface coating the same as protection film?

No. A coating is a thin treatment that may improve cleaning or water behavior. Film is a physical sheet with greater thickness and different wear, edge and replacement considerations.

Can shower glass be coated?

Some glass-specific products can improve water and residue release. We first review glass condition, mineral deposits, prior treatments, hardware, cleaners and your regular care routine.

Will it stop water spots or make cleaning unnecessary?

No. Water can still dry into mineral deposits, particularly in hard-water areas. Squeegee use, drying and approved cleaning remain important. A treatment does not replace normal care.

Can stone, tile or grout be treated?

Some systems are suitable for particular materials. Stone, tile finish, grout, porosity, existing sealers, moisture and daily use need separate review. A surface coating is not automatically a substitute for a purpose-built stone or grout sealer.

Will it stop scratches, stains or stone etching?

No universal protection is promised. Coatings add little physical thickness, and acids can still etch vulnerable stone. Grit, sharp objects, heat, chemicals and spills can damage the treatment or the original surface.

Is the coating food-safe or antimicrobial?

Those claims require specific current written approval for the exact product and use. No general food-contact, antimicrobial or self-sanitizing claim is made here. Continue appropriate cleaning and use cutting boards, dishes and other barriers.

Can you coat floors or shower floors?

Walking and standing surfaces need separately documented product suitability and slip testing. Floors, stairs, tubs and shower floors are not automatically included in this general surface service.

Will the treatment change the finish?

It can affect gloss, color depth, reflection, texture or slickness. A physical test area is especially useful for matte, honed, satin or previously treated surfaces. It does not guarantee long-term performance.

How long does it cure or last?

The exact product, surface, temperature, humidity, use and cleaning determine cure and service expectations. We provide product-specific restrictions and maintenance directions rather than one time or lifespan for every application.

How is the project priced and warranted?

The proposal separates preparation or correction from application and identifies surfaces, product, access, cure, care and applicable warranty terms. Removal or recoating may require polishing, stripping or refinishing. Automotive coating prices and warranties do not apply automatically.
